Dystopia Comes with Comfort and Convenience

I take up this report today — “Facebook’s metaverse plans labelled as ‘dystopian’ and ‘a bad idea’” https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-59154520

I am not knowledgeable enough to be able to judge whether ‘Metaverse’ itself is a good or bad idea, but it is not hard for me to judge that a metaverse where money-mongers dominate could well be very dystopian.

Generally, we should be very cautious about what is noisily touted as ‘comfortable and convenient’. Is it genuinely so? Isn’t it a smokescreen for a dystopian future?

A cyberspace, from which the head-aching password is removed, would look very comfortable and convenient in appearance. Is it really as such?

What we actually find in it and how to avoid its disastrous consequences are discussed here — “Why the password isn’t an enemy of people” ttps://www.thinkdigitalpartners.com/news/2021/08/25/why-the-password-isnt-an-enemy-of-people/
