Frightening Drive towards Catastrophe

Key takeaways from Gartner IAM summit 2022

I owe this Security Boulevard report to John J. McLaughlin’s “Enterprise IT News and Events newsletter” —

It reads, as a key takeaway, “Passwordless MFA is a key topic that is top of mind for all organizations. No shocker here, given the increased attacks and security risks from using passwords even as a first factor. Organizations need to develop a roadmap to move toward a fully passwordless multi-factor authentication (MFA) approach balancing user experience and security.”

Frightening is that these security-destructive ‘passwordless’ solutions are not touted by a small number of non-professionals but promoted by not a few ‘security professionals’ and big IT players that dominate the global tech media.

Perplexing is that most of those people are playing a positive role in other aspects of cybersecurity.

Well, how those people could have got trapped in such a quagmire in the sphere of digital identity is analysed in this post — “Cognitive Pitfall over Password Removal”
