Should a 12-character complex password take 30,000 years for AI to crack, it could be viewed secure enough from the view point of mathematical strength or entropy. There is no need of calling for image-based authentication in this aspect.

On the other hand, few people are able to manage more than several of such passwords along with the relations with the corresponding accounts without relying on a memo/storage with passwords and accounts on it, while conventional password managers have a fatal problem of creating a single point of failure like putting all our eggs in a single basket.

With these two factors put in sight, we would be ready to consider the merits of image-based authentication which offers practicability as well as AI-resistant entropy.
