No Surprise
Facial recognition error leads to wrong man’s arrest https://cybernews.com/news/facial-recognition-error-wrongful-arrest/
It is no surprise. We have long anticipated such cases to happen.
Wouldn’t you feel even more terrified to imagine what it would be like if similar cases happen in despotic states where law enforcement guys simply ignore citizens’ human rights?
I am afraid that those cases will be repeated even in democratic nations so long as the police people believe in the hyped accuracy of biometrics.
That is, until biometrics vendors and security professionals become transparent about the empirical false acceptance rates and the corresponding false rejection rates actually measured in ever changing real environment, both indoor and outdoor.
