‘Privacy or Security’ OR ‘Privacy and Security’?

What is More Valuable, Privacy or Security?

The majority of the global population in democratic nations would give the highest priority to privacy as citizens, whereas some of them are well aware that privacy can be protected only where security is properly implemented.

On the other hand, the majority of the bona fide service providers and device suppliers in democratic nations would give their highest priority to security, being fully aware that they cannot protect privacy of their customers where security is not properly implemented.

Having said that, I would say that biometrics could be a nightmare for both privacy and security. Biometrics data is privacy data, leak of which could wreak havoc to life of the people involved in it over many decades.

Why biometrics could be a security nightmare is visually dissected in this 2minute video — “Biometrics in Cyber Space” https://youtu.be/wuhB5vxKYlg

And yet, so many service providers and device suppliers are sticking to biometrics. Why? — It’s a conundrum about which we can only make a guess — “Indifference, Ignorance or Intentional?” (10Aug2023) https://www.linkedin.com/posts/hitoshikokumai_identity-authentication-password-activity-7095319325946884096-cAHT
