Today’s topic is this post by Alenxre Blanc on Passkeys https://www.linkedin.com/posts/alexandre-blanc-cyber-security-88569022_you-can-now-use-passkeys-to-login-into-your-activity-7059636233836101632-X15S

There is a fundamental difference between these two cases -
(1) Security measure A is not as good as Security measure B.
(2) A destroys the security that B somehow provides.

(2) is the case of biometrics. That is, it is not that biometrics is not any better than the password.

But it is that biometrics destroys the security that the password somehow provides as visually examined in this two-minute video — “Biometrics in Cyber Space — ‘below-one’ factor authentication” https://youtu.be/wuhB5vxKYlg

Where security matters, the threat of biometrics in cyberspace is far greater than many people may assume it to be.

Here is a comprehensive analysis of ‘password-killing’ security solutions — “How to not see our weak digital identity further weakened (updated with an additional reference to biometrics-dependent Passkeys)” https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/how-see-our-weak-digital-identity-further-weakened-hitoshi-kokumai/

Alexandre BLANC Thanks for a powerful message.

John Marrett Thanks for calling me.
